What did you do this past week?

This past week, I caught up on all of my work that I couldn’t do during the storm week. In addition, my partner and I have made really great progress on the Voting project. I have been extremely backlogged these past few days as all of my assignments had been pushed to the end of this past week or the beginning of next week.

What’s in your way?

Time management is in my way. With exams, organization responsibilities, assignments, and, this past week, the storm, time has become a scarce commodity. With this, I need to a better job of managing my time and doing my easy tasks quicker. I hope I can improve on this as I tackle a difficult week this coming week.

What will you do next week?

Next week, I will finish up by cleaning up the Voting project with my partner. In addition, I will study for all of the exams I have. At the end of the week, I will take a relaxing break as this week will definitely be a long one.

If you read it, what did you think of the Single Responsibility Principle?

I found the Single Responsibility Principle an interesting read. I previously never thought about classes to be responsible for one action/change, so this is definitely something I will attempt to implement into my code as it will definitely make bugs less common.

What was your experience of Voting and consts?

My partner and I have solved the HackerRank test cases for Voting and plan to clean up the code and create the public test cases next. As for consts, I did not know there were so many types of consts. I think the most interesting thing I learned was the application, although niche, for all the different types.

How did you fare in the storm?

It was a tough couple of days. I didn’t have power and water for a few days, but I got to spend some quality time with my friends and roommates playing a bunch of Catan, Exploding Kittens, and Madden. However, I’m glad that we’re past the storm and I can return to “normal” life.

What made you happy this week?

This past week, I finally got the opportunity to play tennis in some good weather. I haven’t found the time or had the right weather to play, but I finally got the chance to play after a while. Although I’m not very good, it was nice spending some time outside with my friends.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick-of-the-week is Vercel, a cloud platform that makes it incredibly easy to host static websites. I have used Vercel to host my personal website and another static website I had made for a side project and it only takes 5 minutes to set up. Check it out here: vercel.com!
